Greenhouse

Last week on Monday,  we made greenhouses.  The first thing we did was drawing a square  tracing a square.  Then we gave it to Miss Lister and she cut it out (the middle square).  After that we drew two lines for the roof.  Miss Lister also cut the roof out.  Next we decorated it.  We only can draw veggies and flowers and then we drew greenhouses and our names.  Then Miss Lister gave us a plastic bag and Miss Lister also gave us a paper towel.  Then we rolled up the paper towel and Miss Lister wet it.  Then Miss Lister gave us four wet cotton balls.  Lastly she gave us six beans and we put them in too.

Migration and Hibernation

I learnt that birds actually migrate. 

Use notes and coins

I was learning to add money and notes together.  It  was easy to count up  the money but it was tricky to know witch coin is one dollar.  The  $ sign allways goes in the front and the decimal point goes between the tens and the hundreds.  

Youth town

Yesterday we went to Youth town. We were learning speed and agility.  The first thing we learned was a ladder and you need to tiptoe over it. The next thing we learnt  was the hurdles. We need to bunny hop over them.  The next one was the agility poles. You need to zigzag through it.  Then we did it all together.  It was quite easy at the start (witch is the ladder and hurdles) but the agility poles was hard.  Then we played cat and mouse.  The cat needs to catch the mouse .  The mouse runs straight and the cat runs tilted.

I was learning to place value.

It was easy to put the answer in because the answer was on the screen.

Daniel nest

Today we made a nest for our own gosling.  We all made/drew a plan first.  My plan has 1 container 1 egg 1 carton leaves, twigs, tissues and paper towels.  Then we all went out (except Balaji) and got some leaves and twigs. Then we put the leaves and twigs  into the container. Then we got some paper towels and some tissues and also put them in. I'm going to call my egg Yolky. 

Maori Language Week

We were doing maori language week.
We are doing hungry for the first on the first one
The maori of hungry is hiakai.
In the second photo I was doing turn.

I felt really happy.

This week is conservation week.  We are learning to protect birds in NZ.

the silver eye is native to NZ.

It eats insects, fruit and nectar.

It has a white ring around his eye.

It's predators are: cats, rats and stoats.

I was learning to prefix words.
I can add the 'un' in words
It was easy to say the meaning  of the word because I just need to add the word  into a sentince.

It was easy to write the introduction.
It was hard to do the complication because there is lots of problems I could use and I did not know what problem to use.

Use speech marks

It was easy to find where the start speech mark goes and the end one.

It was hard to put the speech marks in the right place on the top because the square was covering on the letter.   

Find 'er' words

It was easy to find the 'er' words.

It was tricky to do the right words because the end of words are the same sound of 'er' and not 'uh'. 

Balancing the objects

I was learning to balance objects.

I know which object will balance the sea-saw.

It was easy to balance the objects because the colour just needs to match.

We brainstormed key words about Matariki.

We used computers to help us to do the brainstorm word and it was easy.

We used gold pens and we also used other coloured pens.

The chalk needed to be thick because we needed to smudge it.

I was learning to write an explanation.

I was using the ideas in my plan.

It was easy to think of the ideas because I did it all the time.

Fill the jars

I was learning to make equal groups.

It was hard to count the marbles because it was to much and hard to divide.    

I was learning to make text to self connections

I learnt how to make connections by text to self.

It was easy to remember when I was doing these things because the things I did was in my mind. 

  

spelling: th digraph

I was learning to find the th digraph words.

I learnt how to find the h digraph  words with a t in it.

Baking ANZAC biscuits

room 18 made ANZAC biscuits,  we put all the ingredients and I got to scoop up the white-flower       and tip the white-flower in the mixing bole. Miss Lister melted the butter because it was to dangerous and Miss Lister  got the boiling water too. Miss  Wolstenholme gave us some of the mixture and we get to make a ball with the mixture, it was ooey. The mixture, it smells very, very good and at the end when it has been baked we ate them and they were very yummy.

Reading: summary

I was learning to write a summary.
I know how to do the who and what question.
It was tricky to do the how question because it was hard to remember the last bit of the story.

Spelling reflection:
I was learning to write words with short vowel sounds. I can listen for the short 'i' sound. It was tricky to think of the short 'o' sound because I didn't learn that much 'o' sounds.

I have been learning to float on my own in a 

starfish by lifting my chest up. I am also learning 

to keep my chin up.
